Weeding Through the Generations

My thoughts have drifted to my front lily garden the past few days. The weeds overtook my garden in the top picture-there are beautiful lilies there! I need to find them again. In the picture on the bottom left, is an established garden of lilies that just needs cleaning up-it will take some time! Finally, in the picture on the right, on may be able to see that I've weeded and cut back and cleaned up my garden path! I know exactly what is there and now desperately need some pine straw to keep the weeds down.
I love analogies, and this one seems to fit: my garden is like my long arduous efforts in genealogy -family history-in which I search for my ancestors. Sometimes there is not enough information to prove the ancestor is mine (maybe too many weeds!) Sometimes I have the ancestor and I just need to get the rest of his or her information-marriage date, ALL the children etc. And finally, a garden of ancestors that I can see clearly and want to protect and provide a way that my family will bloom forever!

Family, NikNaks, and Work

I figured out how to add more than one pic!
Above my fireplace holds pictures of Stuart's parents: Dottye and Frank and My parents: Mary Lou and Fred. they are held in dearest esteem in our home.
The only real display of NikNaks in our home is a mix of both our family's collection:a sample of my grandmother's cats and some favorites of Stuart's family memories.
Finally, some of what I am working on. I had several pictures that were not labeled nor had a proper home. I am going to place them labeled with the correct family in the right binder!
See my tomatoes in the back corner?? I have canned 31 jars and frozen abt 7 bags of tomatoes!
We are nearing the end of our garden canning. I am very thankful for what we have done!

The Haney Boys

These are my 3 youngest boys. Surprisingly, you might say that they don't look anything alike--but they really do have similarities. Can you find them??
Top pic: Sam is blond on left, Matt above, Mike on the right. They are abt. 14,11,6 yrs
Bottom pic: same order: They are 23, 18, 13 yrs.
Right pic: Here L-R: Matt, Sam, Mike. They are 9, 12, 4 yrs
They bring laughter and joy to us and their sisters

The left side of the Hall of Fame

Now this picture is of all my babies and grand-babies at one year old. Everyone enjoys looking at this and guess who is who!

My Hall of Love & Fame

The hall leading to the bedrooms is where I display my sweet babies, most are now grown.
On the right of the hall is Stuart and I and our mothers and our children who have reached 16-18 years old or have graduated. Mike is 16 but still very much on the track to graduation- we will wait for his pic.

More Memories

(I wish I could figure out how to add several pictures at once.)
First, is my China Cabinet from my mother-in-law, it has my grandmother's/mother's china -a yellow and green pattern, A blue patterned set from Stuart's mother(can't see), several antique plates from my grandmother and a few items I've collected from my aunt Shari and my children. My absolute favorite is the Blue and White Currier & Ives pattern of plates in the background on the 2 top shelves.(please ignore the dogfood on the left)

My life in Genealogy!

I am not sure who I would be without my family history. I am a genealogist-part time. The rest I still try to make my home a haven for my family and I . When I started genealogy in 1977, I had little idea who came before me. I now have in some lines 7 or 8 generations. At the very least, I have 4 generations in each of them. They are my family! I feel I know them and enjoy getting to know them. I want to turn this blog to family plus my ancestors! I want everyone to follow along and get the delight of this work. Come along.
