She was one of 12 children-they are as follows:

Lucinda married Melvin Hunter Phillips 14 January 1898 in Unicoi, Tennessee.

A favorite story of my mother's  as she lived with Lucinda her grandma ( she called her Mom Mom) was sitting outside on the back steps of the house eating strawberries from the garden while Mom Mom took laundry off the clothesline.

If anyone has additional stories -I would love to hear them or I'd love to see additional pictures and post them here!

Weeding Through the Generations

My thoughts have drifted to my front lily garden the past few days. The weeds overtook my garden in the top picture-there are beautiful lilies there! I need to find them again. In the picture on the bottom left, is an established garden of lilies that just needs cleaning up-it will take some time! Finally, in the picture on the right, on may be able to see that I've weeded and cut back and cleaned up my garden path! I know exactly what is there and now desperately need some pine straw to keep the weeds down.
I love analogies, and this one seems to fit: my garden is like my long arduous efforts in genealogy -family history-in which I search for my ancestors. Sometimes there is not enough information to prove the ancestor is mine (maybe too many weeds!) Sometimes I have the ancestor and I just need to get the rest of his or her information-marriage date, ALL the children etc. And finally, a garden of ancestors that I can see clearly and want to protect and provide a way that my family will bloom forever!

Family, NikNaks, and Work

I figured out how to add more than one pic!
Above my fireplace holds pictures of Stuart's parents: Dottye and Frank and My parents: Mary Lou and Fred. they are held in dearest esteem in our home.
The only real display of NikNaks in our home is a mix of both our family's collection:a sample of my grandmother's cats and some favorites of Stuart's family memories.
Finally, some of what I am working on. I had several pictures that were not labeled nor had a proper home. I am going to place them labeled with the correct family in the right binder!
See my tomatoes in the back corner?? I have canned 31 jars and frozen abt 7 bags of tomatoes!
We are nearing the end of our garden canning. I am very thankful for what we have done!

The Haney Boys

These are my 3 youngest boys. Surprisingly, you might say that they don't look anything alike--but they really do have similarities. Can you find them??
Top pic: Sam is blond on left, Matt above, Mike on the right. They are abt. 14,11,6 yrs
Bottom pic: same order: They are 23, 18, 13 yrs.
Right pic: Here L-R: Matt, Sam, Mike. They are 9, 12, 4 yrs
They bring laughter and joy to us and their sisters
